What is a noggin? building a studded wall?

I want to erect a partition wall in between the kid's room(they are driving me crazy) although i roughly know what i am doing (timber frame n plasterboard) i came across a website that said i could use noggins :/ Only from the photo it shows i cant make head nor tail of it. sooo what is a noggin?
