Does Prednisone help with laryngitis?

I've had laryngitis for 11 days. The doctor put me on Prednisone. How long does it usually take to get your voice back. I have been quiet for 11 days!! I miss talking! :( I know I have had asked several questions about Laryngitis on here. But has anyone else ever take Prednisone to get over this? DId it help? How long did it take?
