Trouble for counterfeit money?

i was at school today and i paid for lunch with what turned out to be a fake 20. then i was called up by the school cop and i actually had two counterfeit 20's..she said i wasn't in trouble but she had to turn the money into the social services...so what does that mean? can i actually get into trouble?..and what are they gonna do with the money?
